Temple Emanuel Board Resolution Regarding Teachers Serving on the Board April 2020: “The Board resolves that ECDC and Torah Center teachers (hereinafter referred to as “teacher”) shall be eligible to be elected as Board members. However, teachers may not serve on any committee that may be perceived as a conflict of interest (e.g. Chair of ECDC Advisory Board, chair of Torah Center Advisory Board, member of the Finance Committee, member of the Human Resources Committee). Teachers may be recused from Board meetings during discussion of issues involving finances, their employment or the employment of any professional staff. The Board of Trustees by majority vote shall resolve all conflicts of interest regarding teachers. This resolution is to be reviewed every two years. The Nominating committee will present this resolution to prospective Board members.”

Community Members’ Recommendations for the Board

If a community member would like to make a recommendation to the Board they may do so by directly contacting the Board President. The Board President will decide (in conjunction with the Executive Committee as appropriate) whether the matter should be presented to the Board for consideration, and whether the community member should be invited to the meeting for said presentation. As appropriate, the Board President or another Board member or Temple staff will follow up with the community member regarding the outcome of the matter.
