On June 3, 2018, we honored Rabbi Mark Joel Mahler on the occasion of his retirement from Temple Emanuel. Our program included toasts, tributes, words of inspiration, entertainment, a delicious dinner, and a few surprises too. While it is no easy feat to capture 38 years of service, dedication and devotion in one evening, we shared memories, laughter, and possibly a few tears as we celebrated and joined together to wish Mark and Alice a hearty “Mazel Tov” for all that they have done for Temple.

Proceeds from the gala benefited the Rabbi Mark Joel Mahler Rabbinic Chair Fund, which was established to honor Rabbi Mahler after 38 years of dedicated service to Temple Emanuel. Its purpose is to secure the financial stability of our congregation by funding the Senior Rabbi position in perpetuity. Whatever challenges the future holds, the Rabbi Mark Joel Mahler Rabbinic Chair Fund will ensure that our Senior Rabbi at Temple Emanuel will always be a point of strength for our congregation. Contributions in honor of Rabbi Mahler can be directed to this Fund to ensure his legacy and contribution to our synagogue for years and years to come.
