Rabbi Emeritus

Rabbi William Sajowitz served Temple Emanuel from 1968 to 1985.  During his seventeen years of distinguished and devoted service to Temple Emanuel, he guided the creation of cultural, educational, social action, and youth programs.  Under his leadership Temple grew from 70 to 600 families.  In addition to serving Temple, he served the greater South Hills community, helping to found Chartiers Mental Health, South Hills Interfaith Movement and South Hills Family Hospice.

Upon his retirement, Rabbi Sajowitz and his wife Ruth moved to Atlanta in 1985 and then to Boca Raton in the early 1990’s.  He passed away at the age of 78 in December 1997.  Ruth passed away in July 2018 at the age of 98.
