DESCRIPTION:Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh \nThe Women’s Center and Shelter of Greater Pittsburgh provides women and their children a safe place to go as an emergency shelter from domestic abuse. More than that\, they provide support groups\, legal advocacy\, and programming for the adults and children in their care. We have the opportunity to support this mission by providing dinner for the families in their care.  \nFor this event\, we will prepare freezer meals for the center to use as needed. The kitchen can comfortably fit between 3-8 volunteers. Email Sarah at smangan@templeemanuelpgh.org to RSVP to this event. Interested volunteers will meet either in person or virtually beforehand to discuss plans for the freezer meals we will prepare at the center.

DESCRIPTION:Our next WTE+ event will be a craft event! On Sunday\, February 26th at 2:00 pm in the Community Room\, you will have the opportunity to paint a ceramic seder plate\, ceramic goblet (Elijah’s or Miriam’s cup)\, or both! The ceramics are coming from Ruth’s Ceramics in Imperial – we will transport pieces to have them fired and will have them ready for you to pick up at Temple in time for Passover! \nPlates are $18 (price includes the actual plate\, firing\, as well as supplies and paints shared by the group) and goblets are $20 (price includes the same). $36 for a set of two\, and any additional plates or cups would be their base prices added on. Please sign up and pay using the form below by February 12th so that we can put in the order for the materials.  As with most WTE+ events\, partners and children are welcome to join us as long as you trust them with paint! \nSnacks and drinks will be provided! \nHere is a sample of a finished product: \n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPlease sign-up and pay in advance by February 12th using the form below or send your check to the office. Who are these groups? How did they get “lost” or become isolated from the rest of known Jewry? And why have their claims been accepted or rejected? Sessions will cover the history and search for the Lost Tribes\, as well as communities ranging from India and Ethiopia to Africa and the Americas. \nInstructor Dr. Steven Klein is a Jewish educator and journalist with a Ph.D. in conflict management and negotiation from Bar-Ilan University. An adjunct instructor at Tel Aviv University and a senior editor at Haaretz English Edition\, he has contributed numerous articles to the newspaper on issues regarding Israeli society as well as regional and international conflict. \nFour one-hour sessions available in person and over Zoom \nTuesdays at 11:00 AM. DESCRIPTION:Join Jessica for a 90 minute yoga class on February 12 at 10 am in the social hall. This will be an all-levels class accessible to everyone. Please bring a mat or towel\, a cushion to sit on\, and if you’d like\, a water bottle. Wear comfortable clothing you can move in. We will start the class by trying out a few different breathing techniques\, followed by a flowing yoga sequence\, and end with a meditation. You do not need any prior experience with yoga or meditation\, and you do not need to be flexible or athletic “enough” to attend. \nJessica received her 200-hour teacher training certificate from South Hills Power Yoga in 2013. Since then she has taught vinyasa style\, mommy and me\, and restorative yoga classes in various local libraries and studios. Currently she teaches a weekly meditation and restorative class at Yoga Innovations.
