Student Cantor Sierra Fox

Sierra Fox, mezzo-soprano, is an internationally regarded soloist/ensemble singer with a background in interfaith outreach. Based in Philadelphia, she has sung with a vast number of sacred and secular choirs, while also touring throughout the United States, Europe, and South America. In recent years, she has served as section leader/soloist for the Mendelssohn Choir of Philadelphia, cantorial soloist at Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel, staff singer at the Cathedral Basilica of Ss. Peter and Paul, and lead singer/percussionist for mythic-folk band Soundweaver and interfaith Kirtan ensemble Mandala. Ms. Fox has also sung professionally with numerous other choirs/organizations, including The Thirteen, Neva Pilgrim’s Society for New Music and the Syracuse Opera Company.

Ms. Fox received her BM in Voice Performance/Religion and Society from Syracuse University, followed by graduate study in Voice Performance at Temple University. She is currently in her third year of study toward Cantorial ordination at Hebrew Union College, where she is a recipient of the Women of Reform Judaism scholarship as well as a Tisch/Star Fellow. She is delighted to be serving as Student Cantor for a second year at Temple Emanuel of South Hills in Pittsburgh, PA, as well as providing musical leadership at Congregation Beth Yam in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
